Kiwanis Club of Hays joins special day of service
Hays Kiwanis Club is bringing the spirit of service alive Friday in Hays by joining Kiwanis One Day.
Kiwanis Club members will be working together to clean up the "Gateway to our Community" by removing the trash and debris near the Vine Street exit along Interstate 70. The area is the face of Hays, and the Kiwanis family welcomes the opportunity to help ensure it leaves a positive impression on all who visit the community.
The cleanup is part of Kiwanis One Day, a global day of service that unites the entire Hays Kiwanis family, including Kiwanis, Fort Hays State University Circle K Club, TMP Key Club and the TMP Builder's Club. On this day, Kiwanis family volunteers in Hays are expected to join nearly 600,000 volunteers around the world in devoting a few hours to hands-on service. Kiwanis International expects Kiwanis One Day will contribute nearly 1 million service hours around the world in just one day.
"We are proud to join our fellow Kiwanis family members around the globe to participate in Kiwanis One Day," said Eddie Perrett, Hays Kiwanis president. "The energy, commitment and camaraderie surrounding this single day make the experience of hands-on service even more gratifying for our members as they work to improve the Hays community."
