Anti-Obama group will take to the overpass
Overpasses for America, a non-partisan grassroots movement across the United States, has a rally planned for Saturday just outside Hays.
The rally, which calls for the impeachment of President Barack Obama, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Commerce Parkway overpass by Interstate 70. The event is open to the public.
"Our original purpose is to bring about the impeachment of Barack Obama, due to his failure to abide by the Constitution," said Sharon McGinness, Larned, an administrator for the local chapter of Overpasses for America. "He has signed all these executive orders, basically done away with the three branches of government, and just going on his own, with only the executive branch and leaving out the legislative branch."
There will be no speakers at the rally; those in attendance will carry signs and flags. The local chapter, which includes Hays and Larned, has 23 members. It was formed this summer, and this is the their third rally. The organization's website is overpassesforamerica.com.
