FHSU seeks volunteers to build toys

12/4/2013

Fort Hays State University's Institute of Applied Technology is looking for volunteers to help with Saturday's annual toy building event.

The event, in its 24th year, features the construction of 250 wooden toys for the Teaming Up for Tots program.

The toy building will begin at 9 a.m. in FHSU's Davis Hall woodshop, room 150.

Students in Duane Renfrow's production systems class design the toys and set up the assembly lines during class time.

Volunteers then help assemble and finish the toys for children ages 2 to 6. This year's toy is a four-wheel tractor.

Between 30 to 40 volunteers are needed to sand, drill, assemble and finish the toys.

For more information or to volunteer, contact the Institute of Applied Technology at (785) 628-4211.
