TOPEKA — Libertarian Keen Umbehr formally launched his general election bid for Kansas governor on Tuesday.
After signing the paperwork and paying his candidate filing fee at the Kansas Secretary of State’s office, Umbehr spoke to a number of media outlets in attendance, and then briefly spoke to supporters in attendance.
“Today, our campaign for prosperity and liberty for all begins in earnest,” Umbehr said. “Kansans need to know that they have a choice for Kansas governor who is both fiscally responsible and committed to protecting the constitutionally-guaranteed civil liberties of every Kansan.”
Umbehr is campaigning primarily on tax reform, government accountability and transparency, and free market driven health care reform. He said he believes the role of the governor is to stand as a shield between the people of Kansas and bad laws.
