Alberta 'Bertie' Chestnut

Alberta "Bertie" Chestnut, 73, former area resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 23, 1939, to Carl and Elizabeth (Hubert) Trarbach.

Survivors include a son, Pat Chestnut, Hays; three daughters, Mickie Dreiling, Melinda Chestnut and Melissa Leiker, all of Hays; two sisters, Doris Lovelady, Hill City, and Betty Lampkin, Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody, on Oct. 11, 1981.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg; burial in Marvin Cemetery, Glade.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association or Johnson Cancer Research Center at Kansas State University.
