Albertine Rome, 91, Hays, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at her daughter's home in Hays.

She was born March 19, 1921, in Hays to Joseph and Mary (Windholz) Schmeidler.

She married Fidelis Rome on May 2, 1939, in Victoria. He preceded her in death April 14, 1962. She worked in housekeeping for 17 years at St. John's Rest Home, Victoria. After her retirement, she devoted her time to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella, both of Victoria.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Helget and husband, Alan, Hays; a sister, Sybilla Schmidt, Ellis; a sister-in-law, Laurinda Schmeidler, Hays; two grandchildren, Shannon Weber and husband, Rod, St. George, and Stacy Budig and companion, Jered Horn, Hays; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Weber, and Morgan Budig.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eugene Schmeidler; and a brother-in-law, Alexius F. Schmidt.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays KS, 67601.

A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Monday, followed by a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m., both at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the mortuary.
