Alice Dechant, 85, Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Hays, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Colorado Springs.
She was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Antonino to Charley and Emma (Reichert) Munsch.
She married Isadore Dechant on Oct. 15, 1946. He preceded her in death May 7, 1999. She had many careers in her lifetime. She was a waitress for many years, as well as working in fabric departments of several stores. Her most notable accomplishments were associated with her incredible talents of designing and sewing breathtaking wedding dresses and complete ensembles for many lucky brides and bridesmaids.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Dechant and wife, Patricia, Mesa, Ariz., and Jerry Dechant, Mountain View, Calif.; a daughter, Victoria Gripe and husband, Ronald, Colorado Springs; two sisters, Eileen Hoff and Rosalita Flax, both of Ness City; a brother, Charles Munsch and wife, Jeanie, Russell; three granddaughters, Tina, Theresa and Cindy; two grandsons, Scott and Noel; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Gunner, Jonathan, Nicholas, Cameron, Joshua, Joseph and Mia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Severin, Eddie, Helen, Victor, Francis, James, Deloris and Lenny.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Antonino; burial in the church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to be designated at a later date in care of the funeral home.
