Alice Rose Oborny

Alice Rose Oborny, 76, Rush Center, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse.

She was born Sept. 19, 1937, in Olmitz to George and Augusta (Springer) Nordman. She was a 1958 graduate of Bison Rural High School, Otis.

She married Leonard C. Oborny on Jan. 6, 1959, in Olmitz. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 2012. She was a custodian in the public school system.

Survivors include three sons, Eugene Oborny and his companion, Cindy Martin, La Crosse, David Oborny and wife, Kassey, Rush Center, and Paul Oborny and wife, Wanda, Hays; a daughter, Leona Benedict and husband, Larry, Ness City; a brother, Maurice Nordman, Great Bend; three sisters, Melba Stos, Great Bend, Norma Knight and husband, Harland, Wichita, and Margie Purdy, Rush Center; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joshua Black; and five infant siblings.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken; burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Timken.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice at Hays Medical Center or Relay for Life in care of the funeral home.
