Alvin J. Augustine, 76, Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Ellis, died Monday, March 24, 2014, in Mountain Home.

He was born March 14, 1938, on the family farm northwest of Ellis to Rudolph and Regina (Reitmeyer) Augustine. He was an employee of Travenol, and transferred to Mountain Home in 1986, before retiring in 2000.

He married MaryAnn Barfoot on April 24, 2000, in Eureka Springs, Ark.

He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. He was a member of Twin Lakes Gun Club, Ellis Knights of Colunbus and the Army National Guard.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting pool.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sisters, Irene Normandin and husband, Louie, Hays, Betty Weber and husband, Bob, Ellis; six brothers, Gilbert Augustine and wife Janet, Ellis, Vergil Augustine and wife Ann, Ellis, Arnold Augustine and wife Marilyn, Hays, Richard Augustine and wife Dorothy, Hays, Rudolph Augustine, Hill City, Darrell Augustine, Olathe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Leikam and infant Dorothy Augustine.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, with a parish vigil and rosary at 7 p.m., all at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Church or Masses.
