Alvin M. Weigel, 92, Victoria, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born July 22, 1920, in Hays to Michael P. and Agnes (Kuhn) Weigel.

He married Ventura Giebler on Nov. 18, 1941, in Russell. He worked more than 50 years in the oilfields and retired in 1985 from RC Williams Trucking as a manager. In earlier years, he was a driver for H. Suhl Oilfield Trucking Co., T.C. Strain Trucking and L.E. Whitlock Trucking Co. He moved to Victoria in 1982 from Pratt. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1751 and Knights of Columbus, all of Victoria, and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Gary Weigel and wife, Clarene, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Delores Schmidt and husband, Terrance, Oklahoma City, and Jacqueline Luttrell and husband, Dennis, Eldon, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Edgar, Joseph, Jerome and Peter Weigel; and five sisters, Rose Weigel, Lidwina Klobertanz, Basilia Frank, Regina Weigel and Irene Meis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, with military honors by Victoria VFW Post No. 1751.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, both at Cline's Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria, KS 67671.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a Knights of Columbus/VFW rosary at 7:30 p.m., both at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, in care of the mortuary.
