Amber J. Herrman, 57, Hays, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 23, 1956 in Leoti to Jess and Jeanette (Lewis) Smith. She was a graduate of Wichita County High School and received a bachelor's degree in adaptive physical education from Fort Hays State University.

She married Greg Herrman on Aug. 1, 1980, in Leoti. She worked in the Ellis County Treasurers office for 26 years and then was on the Hays Board of Realtors.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hays, and was an avid fan of FHSU and KU athletics. She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her husband, daughters, grandson and family.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; daughters, Jennifer Werth and husband, Matt, and their son, Bladyn Werth, all of Hays; Kylee Herrman, Hays; a brother, Reagan Smith and wife, Rita, Leoti; mother-in-law, Thelma Walker, Fox Home, Minn.; her father-in-law, Vern Herrman, Wichita; brothers-in-law, Randy Herrman and wife, Kathy, Hays, Brian Herrman and wife, Debbi, Lewiston, Idaho; a sister-in-law, Lisa Hought and husband, Tony, Fox Home, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Friends can call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Hays Medical Center Oncology Department or to the Fort Hays State University athletic department in care of the funeral home.
