Lester Ray Anderson

Lester Ray Anderson, 78, Alva, Okla., died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home.

He was born Sept. 26, 1929 in Shattuck, Okla., to J. Webb and Blanche N. (Wilson) Anderson. He graduated from high school in Rawlins, Wyo.

He married Carol Ann Griffin on July 20, 1950, in Russell. He worked for Exxon Mobil in oil and gas production for more than 45 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Ava Gayle Purcell, Alva; two sisters, Shirley Dreiling, Great Bend, and Carol June Rosin, Dallas; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Dean.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, north of Natoma,

Viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to Lions Eye Bank or Natoma Senior Center in care of the mortuary.
