Audie Lee Karst

Audie Lee Karst, 58, Russell, formerly of Great Bend and Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Russell Regional Hospital after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 7, 1954, in Ellsworth to Gene Karst and Janice Jack. He was a 1973 graduate of Russell High School.

He married Carolian Hupfer on Oct. 31, 1976. He owned and operated Karst Landscaping and Lawn Service, Great Bend.

Survivors include his companion, Carolian; a daughter, Ashley Karst, Aurora, Colo.; his father; his mother; and two brothers, Steve Karst, Russell, and Darrell Karst, Houston.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jason; his stepmother, Vera Karst; his stepfather, Walter Jack; and his grandparents, Ted and Rebecca Karst and Sam and Dolores Langhofer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church; burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Memorial are suggested to Audie Karst Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
