Barbara Kinderknecht, 74, Ellis, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

She was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Ellis to Andrew and Thresia (Augustine) Scheck.

She married Ralph M. Kinderknecht on Nov. 7, 1955, in Ellis. She was a homemaker and a Tupperware consultant.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Eagles and AARP.

She enjoyed playing bingo and attending dances with her husband.

Survivors include her husband, Ellis; two sons, Melvin Kinderknecht and wife, Tracy, and Gilbert Kinderknecht and wife, Cheryl, all of Ellis; two daughters, Debra Kinderknecht, Ellis, and Brenda Kinderknecht, Hill City; a brother, Donald Scheck, New Castle, Wyo.; three sisters, Shirley Gerhardt, Norma Brack and Edna Hejny, all of Ellis; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leland Kinderknecht; a daughter, Mary Frances Kinderknecht; and two brothers, LeeRoy and Gerald Lee Scheck.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School in care of the funeral home.
