Barbara Reichert, 98, a resident of Via Christi Village, Hays, died Sunday, March 2, 2014.

She was born May 16, 1915, southwest of Antonino to Isidore and Agatha (Wasinger) Riechert. She was a 1932 graduate of Schoenchen High School.

In 1938, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in Concordia. She was secularized in 1976. She was employed at St. John's Hospital of Salina in the medical records department for 30 years, retiring in 1980. She was a resident of Salina until she moved to Hays in 2005.

She enjoyed cooking -- her peanut brittle was the best -- sewing, flower gardening and playing bingo.

Survivors include 34 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Werth, Joe Steinbock and Frank Reichert; and six sisters, Josephine Dreher, Cecilia Werth, Sister Esther Marie Werth, Emma Munsch, Mary Copeland and Dorothy Kozlowski.

Services will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday at St. John Chapel at Via Christi Village; burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Antonino.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel at Via Christi Village.

A rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the chapel.

Brock's Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to Via Christi Village, Hays.
