Betty A. Younger, 79, Garden City, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.

She was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Emmeram to Michael and Florence (Brungardt) Gerhardt. She grew up in the Victoria area.

She married Elmer J. "Joe" Younger on May 3, 1950, in Victoria. He preceded her in death Sept. 26, 2005. She worked for 25 years in the deli at Wall's IGA.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell Younger, Holcomb, and Ronnie Younger, Ulysses; three daughters Twila Mattoon, Wichita, and Rosetta Robinson and Tracy Romo, both of Garden City; two brothers, Tony Gerhardt, Liberal, and Herman Gerhardt, Russell; a sister, Katie Rohr, Hays; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City; burial in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
