Betty L. Leiker, 78, Hays, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Schoenchen to Matt and Clara (Wolf) Zimmerman.

She married Norbert P. Leiker on Aug. 29, 1953, in Schoenchen. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1999. She was a homemaker and a farm wife.

She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Munjor, the Munjor Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella, Hays.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, traveling, shopping and spending time with her siblings, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Leiker and wife, Cheryl, and Laren Leiker and wife, Susan, all of Hays, and Gary Leiker, Castle Pines, Colo.; two daughters, Sharon VonLintel and husband, Mike, Victoria, and Tammy Weber and husband, Jason, Goddard; five brothers, Wayne, Gordon and Dennis Zimmerman, all of Hays, Sherman Zimmerman, Shawnee, and Steve Zimmerman, Topeka; two sisters, Elaine Schmidt and Marjorie Augustine, both of Hays; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Ann Wasinger Herl; and an infant daughter, Mary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Munjor; burial in the church cemetery.

Friends can call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A combined Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a vigil at 6 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
