Norman Bissing, 86, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Ellis Good Samaritan Center.

He was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Hays to Felix and Ann (Gallagher) Bissing.

He married Effie Leiker on July 6, 1950, in Hays. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1996. He worked for the city of Hays as a superintendent at the water treatment plant and then retired from Travenol, where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Darrell Bissing and wife, Peggy, Hesston.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl, and a brother, Don.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel Funeral Home, 2509 Vine, Hays. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
