Kathryn (Noll) Blocksome, 89, Ransom, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the Rhode Island Suites, Ransom.
She was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Ransom to Leonard Jr. and Eva (Daniels) Noll. She received a bachelor's degree in education, graduating with distinction and later a master's degree, both from Fort Hays Kansas State College.
She was an elementary school teacher in Arnold and Ransom school districts, started in a country schoolhouse, retiring in 1984 after teaching for almost 30 years.
She was a member of Gay Ginghams EHU and a 4-H club leader.
She married Keith Blocksome on May 25, 1940, in Hays. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Rod Blocksome and wife, Elizabeth, Robins, Iowa, Kent Blocksome and wife, Bettie, Chester, S.C., and Craig Blocksome and wife, Carol, Ransom; a brother, George Noll and husband, Mary, Ransom; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Sim.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, Ransom; burial in Ransom Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.
Memorials are suggested to the Keith and Kathryn Blocksome Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
