Brenda Lou Stecklein, 61, Hays, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at her home.

She was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Phillipsburg to Vernon and Luetta (Howard) Maley.

She married Robert Stecklein on May 1, 1990, in Las Vegas. She was a registered nurse.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Hays.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Jaxon Searight, Hays; a daughter, Lace David and husband, Corey, Hays; her mother, Luetta Hanchett and husband, Wayne, Phillipsburg; and four grandchildren, Jessamin, Erikson, Javon and Leia.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Hays; private inurnment in St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Humane Society of the High Plains or Hospice of Hays Medical Center.

Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, is in charge of arrangements.
