Bryce Stropes, 14, Ellis, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Ellis.

He was born March 28, 1996, in Russell to Randy Stropes and Heather (Scheck) Tysver. He attended High Plains Christian School, where he would have been an eighth-grader.

He was a member of High Plains Baptist Church, Hays. He was active in the Church Youth Group and the Ellis County 4-H Shooting Club.

He enjoyed many activities such as hunting, fishing, swimming and frisbee golf.

Survivors include his father, Randy Stropes, Russell; his mother, Heather Tysver, Ellis; two brothers, Gage and Dru Stropes, Ellis; his grandparents, Faith Ann Scheck, Ellis, and Bill and Ruth Craig, Russell; and his aunts and uncles, Andrew and Jessica Scheck and Susan and Travis Kohlrus, all of Ellis, Rebecca and Rod Augustine, Victoria, and Melissa and Jim Thomas, Russell.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, LeeRoy Scheck.

Services were Saturday at Ellis Baptist Church; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Ellis County 4-H in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis.
