Burton Wayne Crist, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care, Quinter.

He was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Quinter to D. Floyd and Nellie Crist. He was a 1939 graduate of Quinter High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from McPherson College in 1943. He later attended Bethany Theological Seminary and acquired a master of divinity degree in 1946.

He married Dorothy Elizabeth Jones on Dec. 25, 1951. She preceded him in death. For the next 35 years, he and Dorothy ministered to Brethren congregations in Polo, Ill., Wenatchee, Wash., Los Angeles, Pomona, Calif., and McPherson.

Survivors include his children, Danese Stahl, Grand Forks, N.D., Robert Crist, Mariposa, Calif., David Crist, Cincinnati, and Thomas Crist, Oxford, Ohio; a brother, D.A. Crist, Quinter; a sister, Eulalia Sanger, Quinter; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Quinter Church of the Brethren; burial will take place before memorial services at 9 a.m. in Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Polo Church of the Brethren, Polo, Ill.; Wenatchee Brethren-Baptist Church, Wenatchee, Wash.; Imperial Heights Church, Los Angeles; Pomona Fellowship Church, Pomona, Calif.; or Quinter Church of the Brethren in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
