Carl Eugene Stepp, 90, Smith Center, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Smith County Long Term Care, Smith Center.

He was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Shawnee County. He attended Hays schools, junior high and high school, graduating in 1942. He was a 1956 graduate of Fort Hays State University with bachelor's and master's degrees.

He was an educator in Gove, Downs and Bur Oak, and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, Smith Center; a son, Ralph Stepp and wife, Leann, Smith Center; two daughters, Mary Ruth Lanterman and husband, Steve, Wichita, and Marla Jean Shelton and husband, Allen, Oberlin; a brother, Donald Stepp, Casper, Wyo.; a sister, Marjorie Hubbs, Springdale, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center; burial in Fairview Cemetery, with military honors.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Smith Center Library in care of the funeral home.
