Carol J. Werth, 70, WaKeeney, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Salina Regional Heath Center.
She was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Liebenthal to Cornelius and Ursula (Legleiter) Dechant.
She married Fred H. Werth on Nov. 16, 1959, in Liebenthal. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1974. She was a caregiver for her mother for many years and worked at Travenol and First Christian Church in Garden City. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, conversation and was dedicated to her faith.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney.
Survivors include a son, Gary J. Werth and wife, Patty, Salina; two daughters, Jodie R. Fisher and husband, Kenny, Council Grove, and Jillaine M. Curry, Salina; two brothers, Harry E. Dechant, Hays, and Virgil Dechant and wife, Ann, Leawood; three sisters, Peggy Norris, Russell, Rosie Giesick, WaKeeney, and Jeanette Misegadis and husband, Dennis, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Dechant, Liebenthal, and Karen Depperschmidt, Yukon, Okla.; five grandchildren, Shannon Guebara and husband, Ben, Garden City, Casey Bradbury and husband, Josh, Hutchinson, Landon Werth and wife, Dayle, Salina, Tasha Rathbun, Mimbres, N.M., and Madison Curry, Salina; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, many cousins and her friend and caretaker, Darlene Owens, WaKeeney.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve J. Werth, in 2012; three brothers, Emerald, LaVerne and Donnie Dechant; and three sisters, Bernice Shaffer, Annie Meder and Delores Dechant.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Schoenchen; burial in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family or Masses in care of the funeral home.
