Caroline A. Engel Goetz

Caroline Goetz, 89, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at St. John's of Victoria Nursing Home.

She was born July 28, 1918, in Munjor to Carl A. and Mary (Dreher) Engel. She was a 1937 graduate of Girls Catholic High School.

She married Clarence J. Goetz on June 13, 1939, in Hays. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1993. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society Christian Mothers, the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary, the St. John's Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Arlene A. Smith, Prairie Village, and Carol J. Francis, Wagoner, Okla.; three brothers, Ralph Engel and Ernest Engel, both of Hays, and Harold Engel, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Irene Houston, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Norma Munk, Salina; two grandchildren, Michael Francis, Tulsa, Okla., and Kelly Francis Way, Fayettville, Ark.; and three great-grandchildren, Meredith and Kirk Francis and Mark Way.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

A combined Altar Society Christian Mothers and St. John's Auxiliary service will be at 5 p.m. today, a VFW Auxiliary service will be at 6 p.m., followed by a vigil at 6:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Assisted Living in care of the funeral home.
