Carolyn A. Jacobs, 67, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.

She was born May 26, 1944, in Hays to Alfred and Flora (Staab) Doerfler. She was a graduate of Marian High School and beautician school in Kansas City.

She returned to Hays where she remained a self-employed beautician until cancer caused her to stop in 2010. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother and always put her family first. Her home always was the main gathering place for family and friends due to her warm-hearted nature and mastery of the kitchen. The grandkids always looked forward to visiting her home, as they knew a shopping trip always was on the agenda.

Survivors include two sons, Lee M. Dinkel and wife, Danna, Flower Mound, Texas, and Jeffery L. Dinkel and wife, Marcia, Hays; five stepsons, Neal Jacobs and wife, Judy, Grand Island, Neb., Vern Jacobs, Hays, Doyle Jacobs, Lincoln, Neb., Gary Jacobs, Overland Park, and Roy Jacobs and wife, Jana, Palmer, Neb.; three stepdaughters, Debra Roth and husband, Marvin, and Dora Gauntt and husband, Bryan, all of Manhattan, and Jenny Arndt and husband, David, Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers, Richard Doerfler and wife, Kathy, Overland Park, and Charles Doerfler and wife, Cindy, Hays; two nephews, Michael Doerfler and Brian Doerfler, both of Overland Park; two nieces, Sarah (Doerfler) Lafayette, Washington, and Bria (Doerfler) Zimmerman, Hays; five grandchildren, Savanna and Hanna, both of Flower Mound, and Austin, Karee and Katie, all of Hays; and nine step-grandchildren, Jill Forsberg, Shawn Jacobs, Shane Jacobs, Travis Jacobs, Aiden and Finn Arndt, Julie Roth, Jenna Jacobs and Kelly Maxwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Irvin J. Jacobs.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
