Charles F. 'Chick' Selbe

Charles F. “Chick” Selbe, 84, Plainville, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Sharon Springs to William and Adelaide (Barnes) Selbe.

He married Margaret (Wise) Selbe on Sept. 3, 1950, in Hays. She preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Steve Selbe and wife, Jackie, Kingwood, Texas; three daughters, Susan Stahl and husband, Greg, Lora Weigel and husband, Randy, all of Plainville, and Sheila Hachmeister and husband, Kenny, Natoma; a brother, Jack “Johnny” Selbe, Plainville; 10 grandchildren, Josh and Jason Stahl, Jake and Dan Weigel, Katy Youll (Weigel), Lucas, Jared and Seth Hachmeister, and Maggie and Graham Selbe; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Plainville; burial in Plainville Cemetery, with military rites by the Marine Corps.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Anderson Memorial Park in care of Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, KS 67663.
