Chester C. 'Chet' Baxter

Chester C. "Chet" Baxter, 91, Stockton, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.

He was born June 10, 1922, in Logan to A.R. and Irma (Reid) Baxter.

He married Opal (Bice) Baxter on June 3, 1942, in Stockton. She preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Baxter, Falls Church, Va., and Mark Baxter, Hutchinson; a daughter, Nancie Brummer, Bennington; 13 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Chesney.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Main Street Christian Church; burial in Stockton Cemetery, with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard, Fort Riley.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton, and from noon until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Main Street Christian Church or Solomon Valley Manor in care of the funeral home.
