Clarence G. Flax, 83, Dodge City, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home in Lakin.
He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Ellis to Albert and Elizabeth (Ashenbrenner) Flax.
He married Marilyn Klaus on June 13, 1956, in Antonino. In 1991, he retired from W.W. Manufacturing and started his own lawn care service.
He was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Knights of Columbus Council No. 2955, Moose Lodge, and Sunflower Polka Club, all of Dodge City.
Survivors include his wife, Lakin; two sons, David Flax, Kalvesta, and Dennis Flax and wife, Kristi, Rose Hill; two daughters, Clarice Rilinger and husband, Kenny, Lakin, and Dolores "Dee Dee" Herrera, Dodge City; his siblings, Anna, Alfred, Agnes, Lawrence, Freda and Albert Jr.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Allen Flax; and seven siblings, Lizzy, Theresa, Joe, Phillip, Willie, Rosie and Tony.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City; burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
Visitation will be until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe or High Plains Retirement Village Special Care Unit, both in care of the funeral home.
