Clifford Franklin Kopke, 88, Russell, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at an assisted-living facility in Littleton, Colo.
He was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Emporia to William C. and Sophia Adaline (Van Deren) Kopke. He was a 1943 graduate of Emporia High School
He married Margaret Dorothy Back on Feb. 28, 1948 in Wichita. She preceded him in death Aug. 27, 1983. He was employed by John O. Farmer (formerly Jones, Shelburne and Farmer) for 51 years working mostly in the Russell area. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Monte Kopke, Littleton; a brother, William Carl Kopke, Oklahoma City; a sister, Norma Jean (Kopke) Leonard, Emporia; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; private burial following the chapel service with military rites by Russell VFW Post No. 6240 at the mortuary.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present to greet guests from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
