Coleen Deanna (Schieck) Mackey

Coleen Deanna (Schieck) Mackey, 63, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Select Specialties Hospital, Denver.

She was born July 19, 1950, in Colby to Ben and Elva Jo (Timmons) Schieck. She completed her GED and went on to nursing school at Colby Community College. She completed a bachelor's degree in nursing at Emporia State University.

She married Jerry Morgan in 1966. She later married Jerry Mackey in 1970. He preceded her in death in 1973.

She worked at Thomas County Care Center, now called Prairie Senior Living Complex, in Colby for 28 years before retiring in December 2013.

Survivors include four brothers, Spencer Schieck, Temecula, Calif., Stuart Schieck, Menlo, Thomas Benson, Colby, and Michael Benson, Russell.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Morgan.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rexford Community Church; burial in Rexford Cemetery with a luncheon at the church following.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends, at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.

Memorials are suggested to McCook Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
