Kenneth L. Cooksey, 59, Quinter, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care, Quinter.

He was born Feb. 6, 1950, in Quinter, to Robert and Edna (Kraft) Cooksey.

He graduated from Park High School in 1968. He was the owner/operator of Cooksey Appliance and TV in Quinter.

He married Lela Schmidtberger on April 29, 1972, in Park.

Survivors include his wife, Quinter; four sons, Greg Cooksey, Gaithersburg, Md., Ryan Cooksey, Quinter, Kyle Cooksey, Manhattan, and Todd Cooksey, Lawrence; a daughter, Gina Platt, Manhattan; his mother, Edna Cooksey, Park; three brothers, Randy Cooksey, Oakley, John Cooksey, Grandview, Texas, and Richard Cooksey, Wichita; four sisters, Karen Scott, Park, Cheri Remington and Leann Evans, Gove, and Mary Gormley, Grainfield; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Kenny Cooksey Memorial Fund in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
