Trula J. Cox, 84, died Aug. 24, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley, Mesa, Ariz.

She was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Minneapolis to Clyde and Virginia (Emery) Merryfield.

She graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1945.

She married Claude Cox on April 3, 1949, and spent most of her life on their family farm near Palco, before they retired to Hays. Upon her husband's death, she moved to Arizona to be near her daughter.

She was a loving, active wife and mother who enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, gardening and her volunteer work at Hays Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Sanderbeck, Sherman, Ill., and Shirley Cox Knipp, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Laddie Merryfield, Kansas City; four grandchildren, Justin, Catherine, Michael and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Amalia and Sydnie.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601; burial in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday, all at the funeral home.
