David Alexander Lefurgey

David Alexander Lefurgey, 67, Maricopa, Ariz., died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, after a battle with melanoma.
He was born to David Alexander and Irene Eliza (Janes) Lefurgey in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. He emigrated to the U.S. to attend college and became a U.S. citizen in 1998, holding dual citizenship of which he was very proud. In 1972, he received his master's degree in communication from Fort Hays State University.
He married Linda Marlane Ivey on Dec. 13, 1969. He taught as a professor in the radio, TV and film department until 1981.
He was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church, where he served churches in the Adirondack District of the former Troy Annual Conference of United Methodist Church, Jonesville and Hudson Falls.
For nine years while pastor of Hudson Falls United Methodist Church in Hudson Falls, N.Y., he produced the television program WORSHIP, the Sunday-morning worship service of Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, which was cable-cast in the Capital District and on eight channels in Jamaica. The program continues today.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years; two sons, Jonathan David and Joel Andre; a daughter, Jessica Martha; and two grandchildren, Liam Daniel Behnke and London Jessica Behnke.
Services were today in Hudson Falls, N.Y.
Memorials are suggested to David A. and Linda Lefurgey Scholarship at the Fort Hays State University Foundation. The endowed fund awards scholarships to communication majors.
