David Mahlon Kingsley, 101, Ellis, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born July 7, 1912, south of Ellis to D.C. and Mary (Johnson) Kingsley. He attended country school and then upper grades in Ellis. He graduated in the class of 1932.
He married Addie B. Skelton on July 20, 1949, in Hays. She preceded him in death. He was a farmer and stockman. He introduced Galloway and then Angus cattle into their farming operation in the 1930s and was known for his commercial cow herd.
He was a member of Congregational Church and later United Methodist Church, both of Ellis. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star. His other community commitments included the Soil Conservation Service, USD 388 school board, Ellis County Rural Fire Board, Ellis High School FFA, Ellis County 4-H, Ellis County 4-H Fair and the Ellis Junior Free Fair.
Survivors includes three sons, Douglas and wife, Debbie, Branson, Mo., Roger Kingsley, Ellis, Jody Patten, Ellis, and Timothy and wife, Lilly, Hays; five grandchildren, Joshua and wife, Misty, Milwaukee, Bradley and wife, Rebekah, Prairie Village, Rachel Loving and husband, Shane, Hays, Erica Hedge and husband, Andrew, Overland Park, and Austin Fickel, Branson; four great-grandchildren, Alexander and Isaac Loving, both of Hays, William Kingsley, Prairie Village, and Vivian Kingsley, Milwaukee; and a cousin, Lily Georgene Johnson, Hays.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother and three brothers, Marlyn (Grace), Darwin (Cecil) and Orville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Ellis; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, Ellis, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
