David P. Neuenschwander, 86, Hoxie, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Sheridan County Health Complex, Hoxie.

He was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Melbourne, Iowa to the Rev. John Neuenschwander and Marie (Rapp) Neuenschwander.

He married Dorothea Gean (Newcomb) on July 29, 1957, in California. She preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Daniel A. Neuenschwander and wife, Trish, Rialto, Calif.; a daughter, Marie "Lu" Neuenschwander and husband, Karl, Hoxie; a brother, Dr. John Neuenschwander, Hoxie; a sister, Miriam Hoereth and husband, Wayne, California; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Neuenschwander, Sarah Neuenschwander-Corral and husband, Miguel, Bowe Neuenschwander and Katelin Neuenschwander.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Presbyterian Church, Hoxie; burial in Hoxie City Cemetery, with military rites by the U.S. Navy.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.

Memorials are suggested to David Neuenschwander Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
