Delmar Von Lehe

Delmar Von Lehe, 77, Ness City, formerly of Manhattan, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Cedar Village Long Term Care, Ness City, after a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born June 14, 1936, near Palmer to George and Clara (Herrs) Von Lehe. He was a 1950 graduate of St. John's Lutheran School, Palmer.

He married Marjorie Jean Rollins on June 24, 1962, in Alma. She preceded him in death. He began working for a local farmer for a few years. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, beginning service in the fall of 1958. He served for three years as a tractor operator before being honorably discharged in June 1961.

He served on the Farm Bureau board in Ness County. He also spent many hours at the fairgrounds through the years as his children and grandchildren were involved in 4-H, showing livestock and horses.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Von Lehe and James Von Lehe and wife, Sheila; a daughter, Kristie Copeland and husband, Gerome; a sister, Darlene Von Lehe, Clay Center; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Von Lehe, Clay Center, and Janice Davies, Leonardville; a cousin, David Herrs, Green; a niece, Merlene Hougland and husband, John, Leondarville; eight grandchildren, Andrew "AJ" Von Lehe, Hays, Melissa Lippelman and husband, Milo, Oberlin, Levi Von Lehe, Drew Von Lehe and Tucker Von Lehe, Candee Langer and husband, Justin, Gwendolyn Copeland and Gretchen Copeland, all of Ness City; and a great-granddaughter, Ryllie Lippelman, Oberlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Delbert Von Lehe.

Services were today at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City; burial in Ness City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
