Delvin Dean Hupfer, 69, Russell, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born near Bunker Hill to Vernon Kenneth and Bessie (Baral) Hupfer. He grew up and attended schools in Bunker Hill, Dorrance and Russell.

He married Roberta Schafer on Nov. 16, 1968, in Russell. He worked in the oil fields for Delmar Mason and Orville Weeks.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, of the home; a son, Jim Lewis, Emporia; three daughters, Connie Hill, Quinter, Theresa Dix, Hays, and Alleda Hickel, Russell; a sister, Carolyn Karst, Russell; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to Delvin Hupfer Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
