Don McWilliams, 91, Quinter, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care, Quinter.

He was born to Nicholas Ford and Ola Top (Halferty) McWilliams. After attending grade school in a one-room schoolhouse, he graduated from Hoxie High School and attended Kansas State University for two years.

He married Oneita Chestnut on Dec. 18, 1945. She preceded him in death April 10, 2012. He served as a county Extension agent for more than 25 years in Logan, Rawlins and Wallace counties. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in England and France in the weather division.

Survivors include four sons, Dennis and Ron, both of Salina, Rob, Olathe, and Larry, Oklahoma City; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, rural Studley; burial in the church cemetery with military honors by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice Services Inc. or Gideons International in care of the funeral home.
