Don Russell McWhirt, 49, Bunker Hill, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his home.

He was born April 9, 1963, in Russell to William Gayle and Shirley Ann (Brack) McWhirt. He attended school in the Russell County area.

He worked for many years as a self-employed truck driver until his health forced him to retire.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Ann Yakesch, Duncan, Okla.; a brother, David L. McWhirt, Marion; and a sister, Raelene Heitschmidt, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wilson City Cemetery; cremation has preceded the service and inurnment of the cremains will follow the graveside services.
