Donald F. Ostmeyer, 85, Grinnell, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born June 2, 1928, in Thomas County to Anthony and Katherine (Rueschhoff) Ostmeyer.
He married Patsy Sowers on Oct. 29, 1956, in Oakley. He was a farmer and a DeKalb seed dealer.
He was a member of the Grinnell Veterans of Foreign Wars, Immaculate Conception Parish and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a former board member of the co-op and Grinnell schools.
Survivors include his wife, Grinnell; a son, Grant Ostmeyer and wife, Maureen, Oakley; three daughters, Stacy Tholen and husband, Greg, Grinnell, Jill Alexander and husband, Jim, Shawnee, and Toni Hubert and husband, Randall, Garden Plain; 12 grandchildren, Tyler Tholen, Chris Ostmeyer, Chase Ostmeyer, Tanner Tholen, Austin Hubert, Trisha Tholen, Camille Hubert, Jay Ostmeyer, Josh Alexander, Blake Hubert, Tenille Tholen and Jonathan Alexander; and a brother-in-law, Bart Hegarty.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucine Hegarty.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell; inurnment in the church cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell.
A rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the center.
