Donald V. Schmitt, 82, Walker, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born April 23, 1927, in Gorham to Peter and Mary Ann (Berens) Schmitt.

He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Walker, and Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9076.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Schmitt; and two sisters, Marcella Seefield and Florence Wegrich.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church, Walker; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Gorham, with military honors by Hays VFW Post No. 9076.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Ann Catholic Church in care of Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.
