Donald W. LaRue, 64, Stockton, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at his home.

He was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Hays to Ray L. and Abbie M. (Bass) LaRue. He graduated from Kirwin High School and earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fort Hays State University.

He married Bonnie Towns on Aug. 8, 2006, in Las Vegas. He taught fifth grade his entire career at Stockton USD 271.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Tad LaRue, Dodge City; two daughters, Shannon Kettler, Topeka, and Tami Knedler, Dodge City; two stepdaughters, Mindy Jones and Tara Vance, both of Norton; a stepson, Brandon Towns, Olathe; a brother, Martin LaRue, Jennings; a sister, Abbie Jean, Kirwin; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ray LaRue; and a sister, Wanda Fisher.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Stockton; inurnment in Stockton Cemetery.

Cremation is planned.

Friends can sign the book and watch the DVD from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton.

Memorials are suggested to Hays Medical Center Home Health and Hospice or Tammy Walker Cancer Center, Salina, in care of the funeral home.
