Donald W. Leiker, 72, Hays, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 11, 1940, in Hays to Alex S. and Victorine (Suppes) Leiker.

He married Melva Jane Rupp on June 3, 1961, in Hays. He was owner of Don's Home Repair and Installations.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, and was an usher at the church for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 1325 and Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

He served with the National Guard for six years.

He enjoyed home remodeling, welding, woodworking, painting cars and doing body work, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, of the home in Hays; two sons, Curtis J. Leiker and Kyle A. Leiker and wife, Melissa, all of Hays; a brother, Vernon J. Leiker and wife, Caroline, Gardner; four grandchildren, Cole Ryan Leiker, Clay Allen Leiker, Kaysha Ann Leiker and Christy Marie Leiker; and five great-grandchildren, Kali Leiker, Danica Leiker, Emmerson Leiker, Brantly Leiker and Kylie Leiker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kayla Augustine; and a brother, Charlie Leiker.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a combined Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
