Dorothy Joan (Woodard) Chandler, 74, Almena, formerly of Norton, Ashland, Valley Center and Hays, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in Hays.
She was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Phillips County to Nelson and Jesse (Gates) Woodard. Upon the death of her mother, she moved to Almena, where she was raised by Clarence and Helen Cate.
She married Keith W. Chandler on Dec. 26, 1956, in Almena. He preceded her in death. She was employed by Twin Lakes Bank in Wichita. They later returned to Almena, where she was employed by Almena State Bank.
Survivors include a son, Fred Chandler and wife, Lori, Sedgwick; three daughters, Kristi Schnuerle and husband, Sam, and Karla Kenton and husband, Bart, all of Hays, and Karen Kats and husband, Lauren, Silver Lake; two brothers, Robert Woodard and wife, Vanetta, Mound City, and Louis Woodard and wife, Sharon, Phillipsburg; a sister, Dolores Lessor, Kennewick, Wash.; and 11 grandchildren, Gage Chandler, Greer Chandler, Chandler Schnuerle, Landon Schnuerle, Katelyn Schnuerle, Hayden Schnuerle, Brady Kenton, Riley Kenton, Ethan Kats, Caleb Kats and Kennedy Kats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vernon Woodard; an infant brother, William Dell; and a sister, Vivian Cruz.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Enfield Funeral Home, Norton; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Almena.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
