Dorothy M. Soderblom, 89, Hays, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Hays Good Samaritan Center.

She was born March 4, 1919, in Hays to Simon and Theckla (Rupp) Roth. She was a 1936 graduate of Girls Catholic High School, now known as Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.

She married Bertel Soderblom on Aug. 9, 1947 in Hays. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2002. She was Hays City Clerk for 35 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella, both of Hays. She was a past member and past president of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Survivors include a brother, Simon Roth Jr.; a son-in-law, Robert Schibi, Hays; two grandsons, Eric Schibi and wife, Kelly, Hays, and Tom Schibi, Oklahoma City; and three great-grandchildren, Adam, Alison and Arin Schibi, Hays.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertel; a daughter, Susan Schibi; a brother, Raymond Roth; and a sister, Ruth Reverman.

Services will be at noon Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m. today, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the chapel.

Memorial are suggested to TMP-Marian or Masses in care of the funeral home.
