Johanna F. "Jennie" Eberle, 81, a longtime Hays resident, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Logan County Manor, Oakley.

She was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Hays to John and Frances (Lang) Haffner.

She married Alvin Eberle on Oct. 17, 1953, in Park. He preceded her in death July 24, 1999. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Hays.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Eberle and wife, Billie, Oakley, and Charles Eberle and wife, Shelly, Hoxie; two daughters, Delores Eberle, Cimarron and Jolene Amtower and husband, Kirk, Manhattan; three sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Miller, Hays, Mary Rohling, Hutchinson and Anna Albers, Selden; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Adam, Lambert, Steve, Joe, Ray and John Haffner, and two sisters, Theresia Schlick and Veronica Schlick.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

A VFW auxiliary service will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a vigil at 6:30 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Parkinsons Foundation or Masses in care of the funeral home.
