Edith Marie Berend, 81, Marienthal, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Coronado to August and Beata Kreutzer Luebbers.

She married Harold Berend on Aug. 1, 1955, in Marienthal. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Marienthal; a son, Mike Berend, Leoti; six daughters, Janet Pacheco, Garland, Texas, Deanna Fraley, Dighton, Linda Becker, Hays, Rita Bartel, Garden City, Carol Ruth, Johnson, and Gina Perkins, McKinney, Texas; six brothers, Omer "Boots" Luebbers, Liberal, Gus and Pete Luebbers, both of Marienthal, Hans Luebbers, Hutchinson, Don Luebbers, De Ridder, La., and Jerry Luebbers, Rainier, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Berend.

Services were Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal; burial in St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to The Wichita County Amusement Association, or the Marienthal Meadowlarks in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti.
