Edward Phannenstiel, 95, Benton, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

He was born Dec. 4, 1917, in Munjor to Ludwig and Johanna (Dreher) Phannenstiel.

He attended Hays High School and six years at Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.

He married Rose Pfeifer on Jan. 27, 1941. He worked at Westar Energy for 29 years, prior to retiring in 1982. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a sister, Mildred Walters; a sister-in-law, Velma Phannenstiel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Alex, Ted, Julius and Francis; and three sisters, Regina Ray, Sister Audry and Eleanor Binder.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Andover; burial in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation and vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 123 N. Andover Road, Andover, KS 67002, in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary East.
