Edwin Warren Olson

Edwin Warren Olson, 91, Russell, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 2, 1921, in Russell County to A.V. and Myrtle (Brandt) Olson. He grew up in Russell County and was a 1938 graduate of Russell High School. He graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson.

He married Esther Louise Rein on Aug. 10, 1944, in Hays. She preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1996. He later married Eileen Culley on Oct. 24, 1998, in Russell. She preceded him in death Nov. 23, 2007. He was employed at Russell State Bank. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen C. Olson, Denver, and John D. Olson, Sulphur, La.; a daughter, Carolyn Little, Topeka; two sisters, Mildred Gray, Englewood, Colo., and Marie Louder, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or Russell County Food Pantry in care of the mortuary.
